Lé corrigeux d'êcrithie pouor Firefox - Spellchecker for Firefox

By request, here are some instructions about how to install the Jèrriais spellchecker in Firefox. It's not exactly straightforward but doesn't require any technical knowledge.

If you already use a spellchecker in Firefox:

If you already have a spellchecker for, say, English or French installed for Firefox, and if you've added some words to the dictionary (i.e. marked them correct when a squiggly line is shown), then there'll be somewhere in a "User" folder a file called persdict.dat (that's the personalised dictionary file). This file is simply a text document, a list of words, that can be edited with a text editor (such as Wordpad). Important: Firefox must be shut down before attempting to edit persdict.dat! (Otherwise any changes won't be saved) If you've already downloaded jerriais.dic and installed it for Word/Office, open jerriais.dic with a text editor and copy and paste the list of words into persdict.dat and save. Download jerriais.dic here if you don't already have it.

If you don't already use a spellchecker in Firefox:

Install spellchecker: In Firefox, Tools > Options > Advanced > and select "Check my spelling as I type"; then Tools > Add-ons > and select and install a dictionary file of your choice. Once you've used Firefox's spellchecker in any language and closed Firefox, there'll be a persdict.dat file created somewhere in a "User" folder. You can then add the contents of jerriais.dic to this persdict.dat file by copying and pasting as described above.
